So we all have them. Those projects which seem never ending because we did enough to meet a basic gaming goal but are left with a few units/models/bits left in limbo.<br />
Almost 3 years ago I started painting an army of Zoats and Fimir.<span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><a href="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/2007/09/21/servant-of-the-old-ones/" target="_blank">Link</a>, </span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> <a href="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/2007/09/30/fear-my-fimir/" target="_blank">Link2</a>,  <a href="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/2007/10/05/full-of-zoat-y-goodness/" target="_blank" title="Zoat-y goodness">Link3</a></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Had a lot of fun and did quite well with them</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> </span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><a href="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/2007/11/03/there-and-back-again-astro-toronto-2007/" target="_blank" title="Best Army">Astronomicon Award Winner</a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Here is the army explanation:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><a href="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/2007/11/24/fear-the-fimir/" target="_blank" title="Background">Background Fluff </a></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Since all this I had picked away at a couple more models but never really finished much of anything - which is a real shame considering that I spent nearly 3 YEARS collecting the pieces for this army!!!!!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">So as a part of my resolution to finish off old projects I have picked my fimir and zoats back up and dived right on in. The first batch of fimir are pictured below and now bring my footslogger warriors up to 30. I have to touch up the bases a bit more but overall these fit nicely in with the previous ones. I think I have 10 or 15 more to go to finish off all that I have collected.</span></p>
<p align="center"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%2040K/ZOATS/IMG_0095.jpg" style="width: 550px; height: 358px" height="358" width="550" /></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">The one on the far right was painted back with the original batch the rest are new - so I think the matching is pretty seamless!</p>
<p align="center"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%2040K/ZOATS/IMG_0099.jpg" style="width: 550px; height: 378px" height="378" width="550" /></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I have also started the bases for the remaining zoat destroyers, heavy destroyers and my second zoat destroyer lord. I still have a couple more destroyers and the lord that are wip as well as a set of the large metal fimir which are still in the bare metal stage. My intent had been to use these as wraiths for some variety - but in truth as they compete with my destroyers for a precious fast attack slot, they probably wont get used in anything other than Apocalypse! That being said there have been some additional rumours for the next necron codex which include more larger models being a part of the list. I will probably paint and base these in the meantime but am certainly holding out to see what the next incarnation will bring.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">On a final note, you may have noticed that I added WFB and 40k as new searchable labels for my posts. I will hopefully be able to go and backdate my older posts with these labels but you will have to be patient as it will take some time!</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Frank Frazetta, 82, the celebrated comic artist and illustrator whose ax-wielding muscular warriors, scantily clad heroines and ferocious beasts of prey graced numerous science fiction and fantasy novels, died May 10 at a hospital in Fort Myers, Fla., after a stroke.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Mr. Frazetta, who started as a pencil-and-ink comic book artist, painted movie posters and rock album covers, but he was perhaps best known for the cover illustrations to the paperback reissues of Robert E. Howard&#8217;s Conan the Barbarian series and Edgar Rice Burroughs&#8217;s Tarzan and Pellucidar series.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Mr. Frazetta&#8217;s drawings were credited with renewing the popularity of the character, a mainstay of the 1930s pulp magazine Weird Tales. He helped define the illustration style for the fantasy sub-genre known as &#8220;sword and sorcery.&#8221;</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span></span></p>
<p align="center"><img src="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/ff_silver_warrior.jpg" alt="ff_silver_warrior.jpg" /></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Describing Mr. Frazetta&#8217;s bold, sexually charged style, the author Donald Newlove wrote in 1977, &#8220;There&#8217;s no love of decay and fetidness &#8212; his swamps and jungles are soft green, lush, aswirl and gently vivid, germinal . . . a perfect setting for the erotic.&#8221;<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>
<p align="left">Mr. Frazetta was one of the first artists in paperbacks and comics to negotiate the ownership of his artwork &#8212; a move that worked out well for him. The cover painting for a 1966 Lancer books edition of &#8220;Conan the Conqueror&#8221; sold for $1 million in a 2009 auction.</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Although he left comics work in the 1960s, his later paintings influenced such artists as <a href="http://www.corbenstudios.com/"><font color="#0c4790">Richard Corben of Heavy Metal magazine</font></a> and anticipated a trend toward painted graphic novels.</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><strong style="font-size: 15px">Inspired by Tarzan</strong><br />
<!-- BREAK --></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Frank Frazzetta &#8212; he later dropped the second &#8220;z&#8221; in his surname &#8212; was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 9, 1928. As a child, he was inspired by the drawings of Hal Foster, whose work on the Tarzan comic strip would anticipate many of Mr. Frazetta&#8217;s jungle scenes.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></p>
<p align="center"><img src="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/frank_frazetta_savagepellucidar.jpg" alt="frank_frazetta_savagepellucidar.jpg" /></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">For DC Comics, he drew the Shining Knight and, for EC Comics, he illustrated a series of science fiction stories. He had his own short-lived racing car strip, Johnny Comet, in 1952. The same year, he joined cartoonist Al Capp as an uncredited artist on Lil&#8217; Abner, a position he held into the mid-1960s.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> <span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">He painted a Mad magazine ad parody in 1964 &#8212; featuring Beatles drummer Ringo Starr in an <a href="http://www.advertisingarchives.captureweb.co.uk/images/trueimages/30/56/67/36/30566736-1.jpg"><font color="#0c4790">endorsement for Blecch Shampoo</font></a> &#8212; that caught the eye of United Artists films. The company hired Mr. Frazetta to do a painted poster for the film &#8220;What&#8217;s New Pussycat?,&#8221; a 1965 comedy written by Woody Allen.  <span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">His later film poster credits included Roman Polanski&#8217;s <a href="http://www.impawards.com/1967/fearless_vampire_killers.html"><font color="#0c4790">&#8220;The Fearless Vampire Killers&#8221;</font></a> (1967) and Clint Eastwood&#8217;s <a href="http://www.americanartarchives.com/frazetta_gauntelet77.jpg"><font color="#0c4790">&#8220;The Gauntlet&#8221;</font></a> (1977).</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">  <span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">His work also appeared on album covers for such hard rock acts as <a href="http://comicsandoimage.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/frazetta-molly-hatchet.jpg"><font color="#0c4790">Molly Hatchet</font></a>, Nazareth and Yngwie Malmsteen &#8212; though he professed disdain for most rock music.</span></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">His illustrations inspired new interest in the Conan the Barbarian franchise. Marvel Comics launched an ongoing comic book series in 1970s, and there was <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082198/"><font color="#0c4790">a 1982 movie directed by John Milius</font></a> with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span id="aptureEndContent">Not that I could ever redo Frazetta on film &#8212; he created a world and a mood that are impossible to simulate,&#8221; Milius recently told the Los Angeles Times. He added that his goal in &#8220;Conan the Barbarian&#8221; was to tell a story shaped by Frazetta and composer Richard Wagner.</span><span id="aptureEndContent"></span><span id="aptureEndContent"></span><span id="aptureEndContent"></span><span id="aptureEndContent"><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>
<p id="body_after_content_column">After a stroke in 1995, Mr. Frazetta, a right-handed artist, continued to work first by penciling, then by teaching himself a left-handed handed brush technique.</p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">His wife of 53 years, Eleanor &#8220;Ellie&#8221; Kelly, who served as Mr. Frazetta&#8217;s business partner, died in 2009. Survivors include four children, Alfonso Frank Frazetta, known as Frank Jr., and William Frazetta, both of East Stroudsburg, Pa., Heidi Grabin of Englewood, Fla., and Holly Frazetta of Boca Grande, Fla.; three sisters; and 11 grandchildren.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></p>

Here we go again!</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
Now that I no longer have to keep my &#8220;Big rare&#8221; piece in secret (and unfortunately so as It didnt get done in time for the Herdstone competition!) I would like to present what I have been working on:</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
First up - the Morghur rebuild:</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Morghur%20Repair/IMG_0005.jpg" style="width: 448px; height: 336px" height="336" width="448" /></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
Before I took the first picture I had already rebuilt the staff and repaired the claw hand which wasnt too bad. The pins were still there they just had to be realigned reglued and straightened a bit.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
After that I had to do some straightening on the seriously mangled horn. I think I got it back into a reasonable shape though it will never be symmetrical again (meh&#8230; symmetry is for suckers I always say!) I am just crushed that I am going to have to repaint this as it was a BEAST the first time (and not in a good way) Ah well. This will be the most difficult part of the repair.</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Morghur%20Repair/IMG_0014.jpg" style="width: 512px; height: 384px" height="384" width="512" /></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
Here you can see the section of the arm that I will have to rebuild with GS - this should be the easiest of the repairs and the easiest of the repaints</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Morghur%20Repair/IMG_0015.jpg" style="width: 512px; height: 384px" height="384" width="512" /></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
So thats where he is right now!</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
Second the Jabberslythe!!! In the original &#8220;what to use for a jabber model&#8221; topic  I had actually made the suggestion of working with a blight drone from Forgeworld. The more I thought about it the more I really did like the idea - so I got one and did it myself!</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Jabberslythe/IMG_0024.jpg" style="width: 640px; height: 480px" height="480" width="640" /> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
In the end I had to extend the length of the whole model - using a reshaped &#8220;fan&#8221; section to create the extra matching armour segment along the back and sculpting in the torso (?) extension below (you can see in the pic beneath that I matched it up pretty nice).</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Jabberslythe/IMG_0025.jpg" style="width: 640px; height: 480px" height="480" width="640" /> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
I then chopped out the lower front end of it, adding in the mawlock mouth parts and resculpting the tech sections and lenses to be more organic.</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Jabberslythe/IMG_0054.jpg" style="width: 303px; height: 426px" height="426" width="303" /></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
I used shaved and corrected balrog wings which still have some more updating/smoothing work to be done on them. I am still going to replace the wing tip claws with small nid ones that should match the front leg (?) parts. I have also used GS to create a texture over the nid armour plates to give them a finish more like that of the back armour since the pics were taken.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
Here it is sitting in a box of junk waiting for me to finish it!</p>
<p><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Jabberslythe/IMG_0053.jpg" style="width: 640px; height: 480px" height="480" width="640" /> </p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
I will post a few more as it gets done and will show a few more angles of the body resculpt etc.</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
AND:   <strong><em>SUPER THANKS </em></strong>again to those who voted for me in the Herdstone  award for best army blog - much appreciated and glad that people like what I am posting - if there is anything important that you want me to discuss or elaborate on please do not hesitate to ask!</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
THINGS TO COME:</p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA"><br />
New ungors!<br />
More Jabber!<br />
Morghur Updates<br />
More work on finishing/editing my mino herds<br />
Several other armies (40K EVEN!) which I am (finally!!!) completing<br />
And - dependant upon the synergy between the new edition and our army - more gors!!!! New models to finish old units.</p>

<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I will not be competing in major painting comps this year but have begun the process of preparation for my entries in 2011 (12?) aside from that I have decided to try and work in a bit more gaming related stuff - which brings us to the following announcement</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 36pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>
<p align="center"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 36pt" lang="EN-CA">I WIN!!!!!</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Seriosly - this has been a benchmark gaming season for me as I won best overall in both the Lost WFB Championship with my beasts in the fall and now the Lost Warhammer 40,000 Championship last weekend with Orks (yep Orks!!!!). </span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">The Orks were my very first army and some of the models that I played with on the day of were of this vintage. Check these beauties out:</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">From these Blood Axe Kommando models to the golden demons - who would have thought it eh? The majority of the army is an old one including the venerable gorkamorka era ugly trukks and bikes. Even with these eyesores (man those models were ugly even when they were new) I really had genuine FUN playing this force. As such I have decided to get a few new vehicles for them, do a couple new models (A new &#8220;Mad doc Grotsnik&#8221; conversion is a must) and continue to play them from time to time <img src='http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I am really proud of this dual title and would like to thank all those involved for such a great season.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate my buddy and teammate Mathieu Fontaine for his Gold level win in Paris at Games Day France!!! This is Mathieu&#8217;s 16th demon and is well deserved! Check out his site <a href="http://akaranseth.over-blog.com/">http://akaranseth.over-blog.com/</a> for more details!</span></p>
<p align="center"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><img src="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/dsc_0102-2.jpg" alt="dsc_0102-2.jpg" /></span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Part of my own goals for the next while are to continue building my beasts in relation to the new edition of both the army book and the game itself. I have two boxes of new ungor archers which I am in the process of cleaning up and converting for the army using some ideas I had originally planned for my ungor spears in the old mixed herd format - I think the overall effect will be cool! (more to come on this)</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I was keeping another little project to myself for the last while (accounting for most of my posting silence over the last while) as the web contest I was working towards required a degree of secrecy from competitors. Bad news is that this silence was for naught as I didnt finish - good news is I have a bunch of wip shots of my newest model - The JABBERSLYTHE for my Beastmen army! My next couple of posts here will deal with the creation of this gribbly monster which I am quite fond of already. </span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">To those wondering about the current condition of my Morghur model (now the cygor for my army) he has been reassembled though he is still in need of some GS repair. Paint repairs will follow concurrent to the painting of my Jabber (something to work on while pieces are drying) While he is far from being finished and will never again be quite as good as he was - he will certainly still be a seriously Bad @$$ model and most people will never even be able to tell the difference.</span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">With that I will sign off - but will <strong>actually</strong> be back very soon!</span></p>
<p></span></p>

<p style="text-align: center"><img src="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/monster.bmp" alt="monster.bmp" /> </p>
<p style="text-align: center"><em>(I think this is a reasonable graphic representation of me trying to keep up with life)</em></p>
<p></span></span></span></p>
<p align="center"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">That being said I have the new Beastmen Armybook, have made some interesting choices with my beasts and will continue to blog their development for some time.  Heck I even entered another tournament since the one im talking about today where I got to try the new list <img src='http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif' alt=':P' class='wp-smiley' /> </span></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">So lots to discuss/show/build - and thats just my one army. I am also getting back to FOW modelling, a couple more scenery pieces, going NUTS with my new favorite game BLOODBOWL!!! and I may even be teaching a college interest course on painting and weathering models!!! So do stay tuned! now back to the beasts:</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">With the minos out of the way I only had a few things to finish off for the tournament.  Fully aware that this was going to be the last ride for my old beasts and likely to carry over for a while as stand in models while I adjust to the new book I tried only to add things that should carry over tot he new book without too much worry.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> I &#8220;completed&#8221;  a couple of 3 hour ungor herds - 22 models = 6 hours work!!!!!  I didnt really put too much effort into these because 1) I was running out of time and 2) These were just some extra assembled ones I got in a lot from a buddy when I bought his beasts.  It is fully my intent to finish converting my own ungors and/or use the new ungor models in the long term but for now - for the mixed herd setup it was get em done - and quite frankly they still look not too bad for rank fillers really.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/3%20hour%20ungors/IMG_9291.jpg" /></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/3%20hour%20ungors/IMG_9292-1.jpg" /> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I think I just did these with the old badger 100g airbrush and a couple of quick washes/teeth paint touches</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Yeah they are pale but, like the minos, they were done in time and met the colour requirements for the tournament without looking like complete @$$  :P  (and adding the &#8220;space fillers&#8221; of my mordheim minotaur and the mid transformation spawn from my Morghur base really dressed the units up as well.) So for nil time and much to do I am generally pleased - they do their job of neither detracting nor  jumping out from the models on the table allowing the pieces that are properly done to shine. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I hope that in the new rules ungors will be useful as I actually look forward to doing my actual proper ungors to replace these. I have all centigor spear arms (got on that before bitz orders disappeared) for them so wont have to deal with the little bendy spears and I have several really cool conversions in various states of completion. Until then these will stand in. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Here is the last of the units I painted up to a speedy get it on the table standard for that tournament -</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Long term I have a second one of the knarloc chariots to finish but I didnt want to rush that so this is an orc Chariot that I got in a pile of stuff from a buddy - I ripped off the drivers, changed the standard, pulled off the boar heads and used the one tuskgor head I could find in my bitzbox and a better looking ork special character boar head.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Chariots/IMG_9297.jpg" /> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">The driver was actually the paint scheme test/idea model for my Beastmen - he has been sitting for many moons gathering dust so I thought he deserved to take a chariot for a spin ;) </span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">When all was said and done I had a fully painted Beastmen army that functioned well as a whole. Between picking up enormous &#8220;soft&#8221; scores for painting and sportsmanship I actually managed to win two of my three games in the tournament. As such I came out statistically WAAAAAAY ahead of my opposition and was named the 2009 LOST GAMES CLUB WARHAMMER CHAMPION!!!!!!!  WOOOOHOOO!!!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">Nobody saw that one coming.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA">So a spoiler - as I had been asked - yes I did manage to finish the stuff for that tournament&#8230;..no im not going to reveal the rest yet still feeding it out a step at a time as I am able and as is reasonable. As to the Minotaurs that I was building, here ya go - they were done enough to take with me but far from truly done - Basically I did my basecoats and first highlight using the airbrush and then tossed in a couple quick details but nothing much.  When I built these It was in full realisation that new plastic minotaurs were on the way and as such I didnt want to put too much time into painting them in case I really liked the new models. Well the truth is - not only have these models REALLY grown on me, but I am not totally thrilled with the new GW minotaurs either.</span></p>
<p align="center"> <img src="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/beastmenminotaurherd2_873x627.jpg" alt="beastmenminotaurherd2_873×627.jpg" /></p>
<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA">The concept is cool but the anatomy bothers me (those legs - UGH!), either way I have really grown to love my own minotaurs so I will be spending more time painting these and they have found a proper home in my force for the long term. I may pick up a few bits from the minos and rearm a couple models or replace a banner but we shall see&#8230;. In the meantime here are the 8 models I made - im pretty proud overall I think they have a very unique look and will be really sweet when finished! Enjoy.</span></p>

<blockquote><p><em>Hey mate if you dont mind me asking i really like your army and was wondering, if you wouldnt mind sharing the recipe for the skin and fur, much appreciated.</em></p>
<p><em>Matt</em></p></blockquote>
<p align="center"><img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Tips%20and%20Tutorials/WIP%20Shots/IMG_1409-2.jpg" style="width: 479px; height: 360px" height="360" width="479" /></p>
<p align="left">No problem  <img src='http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> Note: I rarely use pure colours and almost all of these are mixes based on my aesthetic preference at the time of painting. Unless otherwise noted the paints are all Vallejo</p>
<p>Grey Skin:</p>
<p>German Grey is the main base colour This is then built up with mixes with basalt grey, london grey, light grey and sometimes US grey (ill have to double check the name on that last one) for a warmer tone. I use Luftwaffen blue grey to cool down some of the shadows and sometimes a touch of SS camo black brown or buff mixed into a grey (again for warmer shadows and tones)</p>
<p>Fur:</p>
<p>SS Camo Black Brown mixed through GW scorched brown and GW bestial brown. Sometimes I will add a touch of Buff  or Ivory and wash with Vallejo smoke or sometimes a GW wash.</p>
<p>Horns - mixes of SS Camo Black Brown, Buff, Ivory</p>
<p>NMM Steel - Luftwaffen Blue Grey built up with Basalt grey, touches of german grey and matte alluminium.</p>
<p>You will notice that the majority of the colours are used throughout the model - never in just one place - this helps to create harmony and unity in the model - looks much more natural this way - on the other hand it also means more difficult mixing and aesthetic judgements in order to keep each part looking like a separate identifiable materials.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: Georgia" lang="EN-CA">Best gift of the season though goes to my wife who has agreed to purchase me a custom figure case from battlefoam to carry my beastmen in - more on this whole process to come in the next few months when I finalise which size/spaces I am going to need for new beasts army book stuff&#8230;&#8230;</p>

I will continue blogging these for a bit in anticipation of the new book and will also update on my bloodbowl team in the next while.</p>

As discussed in my previous post I decided to field a very different Beasts army for tthe upcoming Lost WFB Championship event. I would not be taking Morghur and creating the usual spawn spam list that i enjoy so much (I LOVE ARMY RANDOMNESS). Instead I would be creating an army around a Doombull and two units of minotaurs (which I didnt have), two herds (which meant painting up 20-30 ungors), two chariots (of which I only had one painted), my giant and a little extra surprise for my opponents if I manage to get it all done in one month of time&#8230;&#8230;) Oh and I wanted it all painted.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> </span></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>
<p align="left">UGH.</p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><img src="http://lostinthewarp.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/horse.jpg" alt="horse.jpg" /><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><br />
First up was the Minotaurs which I decided to make from the Ogres I had collected.  I bitz ordered marauder champion horse heads like the one above, got out my glue, knife and putty and got to work&#8230;. And after some reworking and rethinking I came up with the following for my first four.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>
<p style="text-align: center" align="left"> <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b355/LostInTheWarp/Warhammer%20Fantasy/BEASTS%20OF%20CHAOS/Minotaur%20Herds/IMG_8709.jpg" style="width: 613px; height: 460px" height="460" width="613" /></p>
<p align="left"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I think they look pretty good though the learning curve has been interesting.  I will be making 4 more of these and expect that I will probably then come back and edit these a bit -several require more hair for a start and I intend to change the left arm of the club weilder as the pose is too compact -  but it is a good start nonetheless.  Also,  I genuinely like the look. Hot dang!!! Im not sure I am going to even bother with the new GW ones when they come out unless they are spectacular.</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> </span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>

<p><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA">I am particularily pleased with the variety of looks that I have been able to achieve with the same horse head as the basis. A few new horns and some careful clipping made for great variety. I would especially like to thank the bloodletter champ who gave his horns to the cause in such an unselfish manner heh heh heh</span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"> </span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"><span style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 12pt" lang="EN-CA"></p>
